I've used a 300 WM for hunting and found 165 to 180 gr. ![]() ![]() For target/competition your are correct, but for hunting applications you are wrong. The high BC heavies deflect far less than lighter bullets. Another important aspect is wind resistance. The benefits from heavy high BC bullets outweigh the velocity benefits of the lighter bullets, especially when you plan to deliver maximum energy and momentum to drive through your target downrange. I wouldn't run anything less than a 200 grain bullet in a 300 WM for any reason. Originally Posted By: Brentc1-10 is the recommended twist for the 230 Bergers as well.
